Action The amount bet by a user while playing.
Active Player One who is still in the pot.
Add-on - Poker Some poker tournaments offer players the option to purchase additional chips
at a specific period during the course of the tournament. Generally, an add-on
purchase is offered during a re-buy tournament, after the end of the rebuy
phase (directly after the last rebuy level has ended).
All-in - Poker When you run out of chips during a poker hand, but don't wish to fold, you
are all-in. This means you have the potential to win a share of the pot up to
and including your last contribution to that pot. You cannot share in any bets
added beyond that point. These bets form a side-pot.
Anchor - Poker When you're sitting before the casino dealer, you are the last player to play
before the dealer. You make the final decision.
Ante - Poker The small stake required from each player to participate before a hand is
dealt. The ante is used in 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud High/Low. In Hold'em
and Omaha, a blind is used as opposed to an ante. The ante is not part of a
player's bet whereas a blind is.

In poker tournaments, you may not "sit out". Rather, you may be "away-from-
table" which means you are dealt into every hand, posting blinds when it's
your turn, and then folded when there is a raise before the flop, or a bet after
the flop. In a tournament, when you need to leave, time-out, or lose your
connection, you are automatically marked as "away-from-table".
Baccarat A card game. To win you must have a hand that is closest to 9 discounting
all units of 10.
Bad-Beat - Poker To be a heavy favorite in a hand and lose to an opponent who was a severe
underdog statistically speaking .
Banker - Pai Gow Dealer or the players who book the action of the other bettors at the table.
Bankroll Your complete sum of money for one playing session.
Bar the 12 - Craps Changes the twelve to a push on the 'don't pass' bar.
Base - Craps The space on the dice table where most of the bets are set and paid.
Base Dealer - Craps The dice dealer who is in charge of one of the bases.
Basic Strategy The statistically right manner to play blackjack in order to heighten your odds.

Bet the Pot - Poker This term is used in pot limit poker games. It means your bet matches the
current amount in the pot.
Betting Limits In a table game, the minimum and maximum amounts of money that you can
wager on one bet. You cannot wager less than the minimum or more than the
maximum amount posted.
Betting Right - Craps Wagering with the shooter or on the pass line.
Betting Wrong - Craps Betting on the Don't Pass Line or against the shooter.

Big Blind - Poker In games using a blind to put money in play, the big blind is generally equal
to the lower amount of the stakes for that game. In a $5/$10 game, the big
blind is $5. The big blind follows the small blind, which is put up by the first
player to the left of the dealer.
Bingo Marker A crayon/ink dauber that is used to cover the numbers on a bingo game card.
Blackjack A game of cards. In this game players try to beat the dealer by getting closer
to 21 than the dealer. This game is also known as 21.
Blackjack Hand When a hand’s first two cards equal the sum of 21.
Blind - Poker This term refers to the required bets, called the small blind and the big blind,
used to put money into play. The blinds are mandatory bets and rotate around
the table.
Bluff - Poker In poker, players bluff when raising with a weak hand in hopes of driving out
players with stronger hands.
Board - Poker In poker, the community cards dealt face-up in the center of the table are
referred to as on the 'board'.
Box - Craps The scope of the dice table controlled by the boxman. It is also the area
where players place center bets.
Boxcars - Craps Rolling two sixes.
Boxman - Craps The dealer who is in charge of the table.
Break-Even Point The break-even point is the point at which if you played forever, the bets you
made would approximately equal the payoffs you'd receive.
Bring-in - Poker In ante games, the bring-in is a mandatory bet, normally half the lower stake
value. The player with the lowest face-up card must either bet the lower
stake or the bring-in to start the hand.
Buck A $100 wager.
Bug A joker.
Bump - Poker To raise a bet.
Burn Card - Card Games In card games, the card temporarily removed from play. After a shuffle and
cut, one card is placed on the bottom of the deck or in the discard tray,
which is called burning the card.
Bust - Blackjack If your cards add up to over 21 and you lose.
Button - Poker A small plastic disc used as a marker that is moved from player to player after
each hand to designate the dealer position.
Buy-in - Poker There is a minimum chip value required to sit at any given poker table.
Normally the minimum is 10 times the higher stake for that game. For some
special games, that value may be higher. The minimum value required to be
seated is called the buy-in. The amount of money with which you sit down in
a game. All games have a minimum buy-in, typically 10 times the big blind.
